Spotlight for featured author - Lindsey R.Loucks

Synopsis:
Leigh Baxton is terrified her mom will come back from the dead -- just like the prom queen did.

While the town goes beehive over the news, Leigh bikes to the local cemetery and buries some of her mom’s things in her grave to keep her there. When the hot and mysterious caretaker warns her not to give gifts to the dead, Leigh cranks up her punk music and keeps digging.

She should have listened.

Two dead sorceresses evicted the prom queen from her grave to bury someone who offered certain gifts. Bury them alive, that is, then resurrect them to create a trio of undead powerful enough to free the darkest sorceress ever from her prison inside the earth.

With help from the caretaker and the dead prom queen, Leigh must find out what’s so special about the gifts she gave, and why the sorceresses are stalking her and her little sister. If she doesn’t, she’ll either lose another loved one or have to give the ultimate gift to the dead – herself

Review of Lichgates by S.M Boyce

Review of Lichgates
3rd review for November
Star rating: 4 stars

Loved it, a really good read. I loved the world building and was awed by what S.M Boyce created, let alone the world itself, the creatures and different species that belonged to each separate Kingdom was fascinating. My favourite was the Kingdom of Lousse that was underwater, it was amazingly described. Braeden was such an interesting character he was the root of all evil in a sense, yet his compassion and kindness to Kara was well breath-taking. I loved how he became her protector for different reasons throughout the book, until he realised his feeling for her. He was scary when he got mad but something else when he was Kind.

Kara was a great character funny, sarcastic I love sarcasm but more than anything she was a warrior born to the mortal world but was made the vagabond. There are still so many things unanswered like what her dad wanted her to find, so I will have to read the second book to find out but i think there bloodline wasn't always mortal.

The plot was well thought out, and is only revving up so the next book we shall see the Vagabond in full action, and what choice Braeden will make with his own Kingdom.

The most amazing part of this story was the world building every page came with a new place and it had its own uniqueness, as we visited each kingdom I became awed by the world that S.M Boyce built, she is a masterful storyteller and I got lost in Lichgates and am eager to see what will happen.

Review of Darkening Chaos by DelSheree Gladden

Darkening Chaos (The Destroyer Trilogy, #3)

Darkening Chaos (Book 3)
Star Rating: 4 Stars
(2nd Review for November)

Reviewer: TAMRA

A Captured Triumph

Once again Libby the Destroyer, has continued to gain in power and knowledge.  To defeat the evil President and his army she must first find out how to unlock her full powers and train the ciphers.  Her plans go awry when she is captured with the help of one of her friends.  She must now wait for 8 months in captivity until her 18th birthday to confront the true villain, the President.

Once again DelSheree Gladden was able to keep the action going in this last book of the trilogy.  Never once did "The Darkening Chaos" become boring or strained in the plot.  There was a fluidity to it that keeps the reader enthralled and striving to find out what happens next.  Even when Libby is imprisoned for 8 months the plot never faltered or became boring.  The author somehow seemed to make the book ebb and flow.

I only found a couple of mistakes in the book which did nothing to alter my enjoyment.  I seemed to have visually seen them but skip over them with no questioning glance.  I am stills surprised that the plot did not falter in any of the books and that the characters were maintained throughout them also.  They were written with clarity and you felt compelled to like all the good guys and understood for the bad guys because they were so  misled

Overall a very exciting trilogy that I encourage anyone who likes paranormal books to read.  You will not want to put them down.

Review of Desires by Roxanne Rose

Review of Desires (A Legacy Novel)
1st Review for November
Rating 4.5 Stars

I loved that this story was based in Ireland. I couldn’t help but smile when Tara was mentioned I live twenty minutes from it, or the river Boyne that I swam in as a child. Roxanne Rose made Ireland seem magical and the legends of the Goddess didn’t seem so out of place on such descriptive lands.
This book may seem like a light read but the horror in it is not light by any means, it goes from an innocent child to a scene that would tighten your stomach.

Elean – I was very unsure of her at the start as she whined too much for my likings but as the story developed I watched a child grow into a woman, and a woman into a queen. Elean became a woman to admire and respect as she overcame so much horror, it was remarkable.

Liam and James well I’m not sure which one I loved more, as they were both fit to be the King, and Elean’s lover. But James seemed to use his head more than Liam. Liam would charge into battle not thinking but I found with James he showed true strength especially with Connor, how he stood by as Elean and Brigit where led to the healer it just showed exactly how much he loved her, as her safety came first no matter how much he needed to protect her. Liam’s love was shown in a different way and we see it in him until the last chapter.

Morrigan and Greagoir where disgusting filthy creatures and at times I found it hard to stomach the things they did or wanted to do.

Overall an amazing and well written story, the story is far from over and I look forward to reading Malevolence.
