Spotlight for Featured Author Patricia. A. Knight

Synopsis:

Who would’ve thought a rogue nobleman and a secret agent tied in shibari knots would be so instrumental in saving a world from sexual slavery.

For disgraced nobleman and accused murderer, Ramsey DeKieran, a pardon is an unobtainable fantasy. When the High Lord of Verdantia offers the prize, Ram knows there’ll be a catch. He accepts the impossible mission – the off-world rescue of a Verdantian noblewoman, one of the last of her kind. The one bright spot: Elite mercenary, Steffania Rickard, is ordered undercover to help DeKieran – posing as his sexual submissive.

For Steffania, assisting the dominating Ramsey on this insane mission will be challenge enough. The damn rogue trips all her triggers – good and bad. But infinitely worse, on the planet, Vxloncia, she must submit as Ram’s sex slave, and there’s no faking it. Bent at his knee, serving his every command, Steffania doubts her carefully hidden desires will remain concealed.

Their mission takes on new urgency when they unmask a heinous program of enslavement, long cloaked in secrecy. Together they must find a way to overcome their initial animosity and recover a woman vital to the future of their race.

In the maelstrom of sex, savagery, domination and submission, they will need all their wits and strength to survive – but the battle for their hearts is lost – to one another.

Review of Silverdream and Bloodfire By Author Brenda Wynn

Image

www.reviewoffantasy.com
Silverdream and Bloodfire
(3rd Review for October)
Star rating 5 stars

Some of this story is based in the mortal world and told through the eyes of a young woman called Amanda, who is in a wheel chair; it was this part of the story that caught me off guard. I never read of the heroine having such a disability and one I never really thought about. But reading from Amanda’s perspective was intriguing and educational to understand what one must live with when unable to walk. Her struggles through life, where so real my heart broke for her, yet she was strong and persistent when many would have given up. She lives a normal life, going to college having a part time job, and a boyfriend (one I really didn't like).
Amanda becomes fascinated with a Harcot property that supposedly holds notes from its previous owner (who also was in a wheelchair) Dr.Harcot who believed another world existed with strange creatures and magic. He built the Harcot property to experiment but soon after no one ever saw him again. So Amanda rents out the property to search for his notes (under the watchful and evil eye of Stevenson) and she gets far more than she bargains for by trading places with the Prince of Elydir while he is performing for the Bloodfire ritual. This is where the story really starts when Amanda finds herself in Elydir with the ability to walk, and Kelvan finds himself in the mortal world unable to walk. Amanda is soon announced as the Coritus which is the one that can banish all evil.
We start off in Elydir with Kantis who is a powerful sorcerer. Kantis is a really likable character throughout the story we see his love for his people but mostly for Kelvan the prince and hopefully the future Coritus the one who would banish the evil from Elydir. But when it all boils down Kantis will do anything to save his world, and if that means putting Kelvan aside and taking Amen-Jen (Amanda) under his wing it is what he will do, with the support of King T’Kerr and even against the wishes of Queen Tabitha he helps Amen-Jen on her journey to banish Aton and Hagah the evil witch.
The world of Elydir is fascinating and I applaud the author for such descriptive and imaginary writing. Elydir is set in medieval times, and fuelled with magic; the land is split between elves, dwarfs, humans and Sorcerers. Elydir is a place where dragons live, and such small things as flowers can kill. I was drawn into a world that I felt I walked on the soil or could smell the sea, or even taste the unusual food they eat, even down to the creature’s that grazed or lived amongst the people was imaginary and unusual it was really learning a whole new world with its own language and ways.
The story is far from over I am truly eager to see what happens. This was exceptionally written book with more imagination than I have read in a long time.

Spotlight for An Element of Time by Author Bebe Knight

Synopsis:
A vampire and a slayer walk into a bar… Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but for Veronica and Mackenzie, it’s the beginning of the rest of their lives…

The world has seen its fair share of evil, but Veronica Chase had no idea such monsters truly existed. Werewolves, poltergeists, witches… even vampires. Ignorance was bliss. But her reality was crushed on that horrid day her family was taken away from her. Now, Veronica has devoted her entire life to hunting those very creatures, searching for the werewolf pack that murdered her parents in hopes of finding her abducted sister. Nothing will get in her way of settling the score for the hand she was unjustly dealt. That is until her newest assignment brings her to her knees.

After one hundred and eight years on earth, Mackenzie Jones thought he had seen it all. With the exception of daylight of course, but that’s what comes with the territory being a vampire and all. Perpetually damned to live his life as a bartender in the shadows of the night, nothing has sparked his interest lately. Just once he wished something exciting would happen in his mundane life. Little did he know, his wish was about to come true. Walking through the door to his bar, and into his heart, Mackenzie allows love to take the wheel for the first time. There’s just one slight problem. She’s there to kill him.

About the Author:
Bio:

Raymond Esposito is an American novelist born in the small town of Northford, Connecticut, in 1966. As the middle son, he learned the importance of placing his own mark on the world. His parents divorced when he was in second grade, and like many "latchkey" children of the 1970s, the absence of adult supervision allowed him to discover a world of creativity and imagination. Those experiences were the inspiration for his writing, and many will appear in the forthcoming novel, The Demon.
In 1984, he attended the University of Connecticut, where, after dabbling in economics, philosophy, and English literature, he settled on a degree in psychology-people and their motivations were, after all, the thing that always fascinated him.
He began writing short stories at the age of twelve, although he never shared them. It was a passion that continued into adulthood and one fed by his love of all things horror. In 1999, he wrote his first "real" short story titled "Witches Lake." It was a campfire tale for his children. Over the next decade, he penned another thirty stories. In 2011, he began a short story titled "U & Me, against the World." It became his first published novel and is book 1 of the Creepers Saga.
Today, Raymond lives in Florida. He married the perfect women, he raised two perfect sons, and he was blessed with three beautiful stepdaughters, whom he considers the best "gift with purchase" any second marriage could provide. He also shares his castle with their 135-pound "puppy," Zeus. The two often debate the merits and drawbacks of feeding Twinkies to a dog; to date, Zeus has won all those arguments.

Review of Demon Divided by author Sharon Steveson

(2nd Review for October)
Demon Divided
Stars: 4/5 Stars
This book was given to me by the author for an honest review. Demon Divided was a fast paced, smart talking, and well written book.
I love the Gallow siblings but my favourite being Shaun. Don't get me wrong Sarah is pretty cool but her love life is too crazy for me to keep up with, between Dev, Ray, Ben and now War, O and a pet wolf, it's just to crazy. With Shaun it's just Elle which I love and Elle had me laughing so much throughout this book.
The three main Characters Shaun, Elle and Sarah are all smart mouths giving you plenty of laughs throughout the book. But the story is also very gruesome, a lot of heads get cut off, and hearts ripped out. it was far more gruesome than the first book.
At first I had no idea where the plot was going a lot of deaths and a lot of involvements, but when Shaun gets his auntie's Diary it soon puts everything into place, and with Sarah creating more problems then necessary you have a lot of sub-plots but they are all tied together.
I'm left still with lots of questions. War being one of them, but i also wonder is Elle really who she says she is, her name changes too much, she talks a lot but says nothing really. and what about Will? or will the council finally catch up with the Gallow Siblings.
Sigh I guess I will have to read the next one to find out.
Really really enjoyable and fast paced

Bio:
Kyra Halland is a writer of darkly emotional tales of fantasy and romance. She lives in southern Arizona and has a very patient husband, two less-patient cats, and two young adult sons of whom she is very proud.
Her writing career began in 2nd grade with the story of Daisy the Horse-Farm Horse. It got sidetracked when she went into music, ultimately ending up with a Master's in Music History, then got back on track soon after that when she began writing fantasy novels as a new stay-at-home mom with a young baby. Now that that baby and the other baby are adults, or close enough, she has turned more of her time to her writing career.

Review of Secret of Betrayal by DelSheree Gladden

(Ist review for October)
www.reviewoffantasy.com
Reviewer: Tamra
Rating: 4 stars

Who to Trust

The Destroyer, Libby, gets right into action in this second book of the trilogy.  Her acceptance to save the world is unconditional and she has now found the means to start the process.  With the help of her ex-boyfriend Lance, her current boyfriend Milo and her wanna be boyfriend Braden she has more trouble than she seems to be able to handle.  Between figuring out who to love, who to trust and who to kill her world becomes chaos.  The mission is to set the ciphers free and get them to safety so they can become her army and help save/destroy the world.

In "Secret of Betrayal" the title lets the reader know that someone within their ranks will betray them and it does indeed happen.  Even as Libby's gifts grow stronger and her abilities seem to be doing things that were once impossible she is still unable to find out who will betray her.  The author did a fabulous job of keeping the plot fresh and did not bog it down with fluff.  I usually find the second book of any series to be just a lot of filler and preparation for the next installment but this book did none of that.  It had its own plot and left the ending open so that the third book has its own plot as well.  Excellent job!

I am excited for the third and last book in this series to see how the author has ended this trek for Libby and her friends.  To find out if she can indeed live a "normal" life that she so desperately wants.
